kitewithfishI am mostly recovered from my cold, but still tired and goofy and sniffly AF.
Game of Thrones spoilers thru episode 803 below
The battle plan was SO BAD. So bad. Just. That is not how you use cavalry? You don't wait until the undead horde is 300 yards from your castle to send out your fast, light troops to confront them in a stupid head on rush! You use cavalry to harass the enemy and force them to move where you want them to move! Also, give the Dothraki some weapons that actually work against the undead - they had plain steel araks going into that fight until the Red Woman lit that shit up, and that's just a death sentence.
Put artillery INSIDE the walls of the castle, put the infantry INSIDE the ring of fire pits and spiked dragon glass posts! Use the Dothraki cavalry to funnel the undead to your strong points, then hit them with fire arrows and artillery, where the survivors have to crawl over fire and broken glass to get to your Unsullied and Westerosi forces, and THEN let your infantry pick them off from some safety. And keep the women on top of the walls to throw rocks and shit down on the ones that make it past the infantry. There - a better battle plan that doesn't even bring the dragons into it yet.
This battle plan was so bad, Tyrion Lannister, who has the least combat experience, should have been able to point out all the weak parks. Jon Snow, whose experience in the Night's Watch should have made clear the value of WALLS against zombies, should have seen this. Daenerys should have seen her Dothraki were being sent to the slaughter. Jorah Mormont should have seen this. Davos, veteran of the Blackwater, should have seen this.
This was a dumb episode and I am annoyed by EVERYONE except Arya.
