Random Issues of Productivity
Jan. 22nd, 2008 12:40 amI feel like I got some things done today, though again I feel like my studying is nowhere near as gung-ho as at Swelles.
I emailed my professors for two more of my classes asking for permission to bring my English-German dictionary to class for the final- one of them has not yet responded, but the other has told me that I can answer in English if I like. (I realize that I would not be getting this response if my native language were Croatian, Japanese, or Arabic, but I'm not stupid either.)
I realized how little I spent this month from my alloted budget for certain things, like food, simply by being more of a homebody than usual and not thinking about buying stuff. It's kind of intoxicating, but at the same time I know that it's a fluke for finals period and doing more cooking on my own.
On the comic book front, I picked up Checkmate #22, which had a really great moment with Mademoiselle Marie, a character who I really was unaware of until now. Apparently she's been around since the late fifties, in several incarnations of French patriotism, and this is just the most recent. I've ( transcribed ) it, and it's honestly beautiful. I'm considering picked up Checkmate more often- this was just a whim, but this was a really well-played moment of depth to a character who I would otherwise have written off as being completely bloodyminded and stupid.
Also, I lust after Moo.com's minicards, but I'm going to wait until I get back to Swelles and can play with photoshop before I give into my wasteful urges.
