I'm hunting done a J2 AU RPS WIP (insert other acronyms to your taste). I can't remember the author. Last time I saw it was before Christmas where I read up to the complete chapters and then didn't follow up on it until later, and I've lost the link. Spoilers for the fic under the cut.
This is a Dexter-inspired fic, but not a crossover. Jensen is working as a forensic specialist at the same police department as his sister (actress whose name escapes me- Danneel Harris or another of the regular supporting cast in J2 fics.)
Possibly TRIGGER-laden SPOILERS under the cut.
Jensen is actually a serial killer who hides his "workroom" in an abandoned area of the police building where no one will find it.
Jensen's mother, shown in flashback, knew of his tendencies, and helped him curb them- scene of her showing him where to cut a chicken at the joints where she understands what Jensen is. Jensen's father was an abusive alcoholic, Jensen killed him as his first murder, and dismembered the body starting with the hands. The police think that he was just a witness to his father's murder.
Now, someone is duplicating Jensen's early murders as a covert message to him: Come play. At least one of them duplicates the way that Jensen cut up his father's hands, so the police and Jensen's cop sister are looking at it as a possible copy-cat killer. Jensen thinks of these new murders a kind of love letter from someone who knows him and understands his work.
Jared appears a little bit as a surgeon who asks Jensen out- he knows more about Jensen than would seem normal, but explains it away.
I know this fic, I commented on this fic, but for the life of me I cannot remember the author or the title. But it was a really interesting piece and I was hoping to find more. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Dexter or can deal with a POV character who has some serious mental issues and violent tendencies.
