What I’ve Read:

Paladin's Grace by T. Kingfisher – re-read – I read this years ago on the advice of a friend who loves fantasy and romance and it’s definitely hitting those notes. It’s got lovely characters who are fully fleshed out, a couple of decent mysteries, and some deeply horny people who have genuine affection for each other and genuine problems. I never read the rest of the series but I should get back into it.

different for vampires by Ariaste - https://archiveofourown.org/works/58003531 – A loving and hilarious fic that pulls from The Interview with the Vampire series and the books and engages with some of the stupid things and mocks the shit out the more stupid things. The emotional core of this fic is Daniel/Armand, in the wake of the events of season 2, and the long conversations about vampire nature including all the goofy shit. I loved it. Final chapter went up this week!

I'm Kinda Chubby and I'm Your Hero Vol. 2 - 冴えない僕は、君のヒーロー Nore Quick read – this is the second volume of the relationship of a young actor Honjiro and apprentice pastry chef Konnosuke. Both volumes have been soft and sweet, with their jobs and relationship slowly blossoming. It’s not explicitly romantic at any point but it’s very much about affection building out of admiration and inspiration. Honjiro and Konnosuke each care deeply about each other and credit the emotional support from their friend as being the inspiration for their success. It’s very small scale and super cute.

What I’m Reading

She Who Became the Sun – Xing book club – Like 75% - I had a set back where I lost track in my audiobook and it played waaaaay past where I intended. Sadness and woe, I will have to backtrack.

Yes, it's on my list, but I haven't even read the previous one. I'm currently reading April releases.

Oh, do you try to read things in the order that they are published? I haven't considered that as an organizing method - I have been trying to get more organized about it but not via publication date so much.

Yes, I have a Notepad file with all the releases by date (and a bunch of backlist books organised by subgenre). For every month, I try to cut it down to a number of books readable within a month, with less and less success as the number of interesting LGBT SF/F book releases regularly increases. I'm now 5 months late, which is my record so far, but it's gonna get worse. lol

Oh, that is a great approach and also delightful that it's becoming too much :D Maybe you need a team of people to parse out all the books!

Well, I do spend a lot of time in the Tumblr tags, reblogging many posts about indie LGBT SF/F book releases, so I assume some of my followers end up reading the books I don't have the time to read.

I'm a bit behind you - just finished the third Murderbot book today (I also just started it today lol). I am enjoying them more and more as they go along.

I'm so glad to hear it ! This is a re-read for me so I'm really enjoying getting to read it with my book club - it's rare we all like a series enough to keep reading together, but this series really does have broad appeal. I hope you come back have and share your thoughts on Murderbot when I get to this re-read!

I think my favorite single book was #2, but I'm also a firm believe that the first four books make such a cohesive story that I really can't play favorites - they're all working together.

We've read slightly out of publication order this time, because the story in Fugitive Telemetry (#6) takes place before Network Effect (#5 aka the full size novel), so we're actually even further along than the number would suggest.
