I have finished my first sweater!

I forgot to mention I also have a Ravelry!  So you can go and check that out if you are a person who gets knitty. I'm not terribly social on that front, and I suspect that Knitting Tumblr will probably survive unafflicted by the upcoming Sexy Ban, but if you want to friend me there, I am happy to friend back.

The pattern on this one is pointedly a good and simple pattern for sweater beginners, but since I am adamantly a sweater beginner, it's perfect for me. I even have actually a large number of leftover balls of yarn (eh, 3), due to a disagreement with the pattern design over where my sweater should end. I'm firmly on the side of Natural Waist, while the pattern was more in the Just Past the Hips camp. I'll make a shawl or something from the leftovers.

Woohoo!

Three is enough for a whole new project. If you have small bits lying around, make a box-bottom project. You can do rows, or granny squares, or freestyle knitting.

*snort*

When my mother and her friends moved into assisted living situations, they all unloaded on me big bags of their leftover yarns. Great. I gave away to a project a lot of the pastel baby yarn (*gag*), put some into a bin labled "HAZMAT" for use in yarnbombing, and admired all of the batches of two or three or four balls that matched, clearly project overage. There's still a fair bit of it and I need to suck it up and just knit a lot of striped stuff.

Pictures? Also congratulations :) I've just started to knit, so I don't think I should be on Ravelry just yet. (I've made a single stocking-stitch scarf.) But it's nice to find other knitters here who can be admired without making me feel entirely inadequate.

Going along to create a Ravelry page so I could see it, I discovered that I already had a ravelry page! Excellent :) And the jumper is amazing. That looks really complicated to me.

Congratulations! A sweater is a big time commitment, you should be really proud. I am terrible at uploading my projects to Ravelry, I mostly use my account to look up patterns, but I've added you as a friend on there; my Ravelry name is ninjabanshee.
