I get the feeling that my WATCHMEN viewing experience may have been somewhat diminished by the number of people who walked out of the theater.

That just makes me sad.

I've heard reports of mass walkouts, but didn't catch any particularly noticeable amount leave during the two showings I've seen thus far. How many walked out on yours? A third of the audience?

It's damn sad too. The snob in me is trying to spin it as "Well, they succeeded in creating a work of art because tons of people just don't get it!" but snobbery is cold comfort.

First, let me qualify- there were maybe twenty people total at the screening. Of this, I would say that about seven walked out, at various points in the film. I think there were about two every half-hour after the first hour. I think a number seemed to just give up on it after Manhattan went to Mars.

I want more to this movie. It seemed really sketchy and did not seem to flow well- I await the director's cut and the animated short that will come later, but what they put into theaters did not seem to work very well as a movie. For WATCHMEN, there was just too much "superhuman" stuff, and not enough "fucked-up wacko in a mask" stuff.

The fights and the sex seemed to really stick out, honestly. They were just too pretty, too Hollywood and too perfect for the characters....
