Feb. 28th, 2008 09:57 amI'm kind of thinking that I might want to buy myself a German keyboard. It#s just.... so much easier to type German on these things than on English language ones. The umlauts are just...THERE. No shameful hiding behind other letters, no weirdness about how you have to hit numbers that change from PC to Mac, no problems at all. And while it is absolutely strange that they put the Z where the Y is on an English keyboard, it makes sense, given the frequency patterns.
The only issue there is that I then have to get a mouse, which does not make me happy, but I bet I could find a cheapish optical one that works fine without much work. They are kind of everywhere.
Another note: while Pandora does not work outside the US of A, there is a similar French site called Deezer that lets you pick songs from a huge archive. It's not as great, but it works in Europe. I would be highly interested in anyone who can find something like Pandora in Europe, because it was a great pleasure over Christmas to set myself up with a channel and then just play it until my brain exploded.
I am slightly despairing over my future career choices. I've kind of painted myself into a corner, so unless I want to live in Europe and teach English to small people or set myself up as a translator, there's not much to be done about it. At least I have my Spanish to fall back on.
There are a disturbing number of great songs with the name Delilah in the title. (Don't people recall that she was rather nasty? Who names their daughter that?)
