IKEA may be a huge pain in the ass to navigate, but you can buy a foam mattress there for only E25 that makes your life about a thousand times better.
In case this sounds a little strange (Why would she buy a mattress when she's got one in her student housing?), it's mostly because my sister is coming to visit. I wanted to give her someplace to sleep, and while I did steal an inflatable mattress from my dad's camping supplies (hehe, sorry Dad! I did try to take the one you like least.), that's really not a very good solution, and it's really more something for me to bring around when I next visit friends without mattresses for me to sleep on. This foam pad thing (which looks very much like the stuff they ship eggs in for shock absorbtion) is incredibly comfy. It's currently living on top of my real mattress, with a single bottom sheet covering them both. There's really no other place to put it, and it adds another huge layer of padding to my mattress. It's made so much off a difference in how comfortable my bed is that I don't mind just keeping it for the single semester.
In other news, my mother sent me a pre-Valentine's day care package full of chocolate and a tiny kit to grow a tiny lavender plant. I've set it up on my window, and hopefully it will bare happy fruit. I miss my plants, though I know that my sister is taking good care of them in her flat. I wish I could have some here, but I would just have to throw them out at the end of the year, and that would make for a sad Beanie.
I also, on the advice of my father, looked into the whole issue with my power charger. It had been seriously delayed, despite the fact that I paid for two-day delivery- over a month later I'd gotten no response from the company. I've emailed them three times without any response, but today I checked my credit card bill and there's a credit for the exact amount that they charged me, including shipping. (This means that my grandmother did not actually cause this issue. I now feel a little sheepish for having suggested it.)
All of this means that I will simply go ahead with purchasing this item from another online store which functions as the European branch of the manufacturers. That should hopefully go more smoothly, thought it does mean that I have to pay in Euros and will end up getting something some variation on European plugs. Meh. That's what adaptors are for.
I've just had the last instance of all my classes before the finals. I wish that I could space the finals out differently- take them earlier in the week and then have time to spend with MB without this hanging over my head, but there's not much that I can really do on that front.
I've set up my internship timing so that I do all three weeks in February at the archive and then have my entire March/Easter vacation free. I need to figure out what classes I'm going to take, as well as the places that I'm going to visit with whom.
