Day 2.

I've done a variety of bureaucratic things today, among them getting registered with the Austrian government as living where I do, and getting a bank account, and getting placed in a language course. So, lots done, and lots to do still.

However, I think I'm going to have a good time here. Because, during the day, while there were several times when I felt completely confused, there was someone right there, native German speaker, dealing with it all for us. So, while I may have missed some things, I don't think she did. Which is good, because doing this alone would be awful.

As things stand, I have knives and forks and spoons (which were hidden in a box with an electric kettle) and an electric kettle, a clock radio (which I NEEDED SO BAD), the promise of a cell phone, a nice little room, and a life that appears to be unfolding before me. So, while it lacks the familiar, easy comprehension of much of my life in the cradle of sisterhood, it seems that people are doing their damndest to get us to roughly the same standard of functionality. So, life is good.

And I have tea. Tea helps immensely. And the presence of babies. Babies are good.
