Much as Dickens decided to have a Nice Jew to balance Fagin, Sayers has a Nice Lesbian Couple who are Harriet's friends (I forget where they're mentioned). I'm not sure which book, but a lesbian couple is referred to as a "collar and tie team," which I thought meant, well, that they wear masculine clothing, but somebody asks which is the collar and which is the tie.
