"like Mr. Rogers with laser beams" is such a great description of Superman! Somehow this made me remember his expy in Astro City whose superhero name is The Samaritan, and how that story was all about the sacrifices necessary for good deeds. You can't have a Superman without inherent kindness.

The Witcher is in my Netflix queue but I still haven't made up my mind on whether I actually want to watch it. I do like me some Cavill eye-candy, but I don't know anything about the games or books, and visually I wasn't impressed due to the monochrome visuals you mentioned. The trailer didn't show me a fictional world where I felt that I wanted to visit and find out more about it.
