I don't actually really have any concerns for special effects and sets - it's mostly just vaguely charming to see the same section of Californian desert being used for yet another desolate alien planet. Or when they just do something for reasons of "if we make up this plot point, we don't have to build another set!" - brilliant! perfection! Incredibly goofy and fun!

They're clearly focusing on what actually matters - good writing, good thinking, good acting - so I am totally willing to let them pull old footage out of storage and work around having to cast enough extras to make up a cocktail party. Who cares! They're doing a good job.
