Oct. 13th, 2007 02:43 pmOh, the days just flying by.
I got a letter yesterday from the visa people setting a date for them to review my visa application, and what to bring with me. I heard from Alexandra, that in fact we do not have to wait for our bank cards to come in the mail (which we'd heard from them last time, and were annoyed over), but we can go and pick them up on Monday. We could have gotten them yesterday, but I didn't get the message in time to get to the bank.
In other news, yesterday was also a big Erasmus program party celebrating the beginning of the semester. Like all parties here, it had cheap crappy drinks and good expensive drinks, terrible music, and lots of sweaty men. Me and Colleen spent much of the time making faces at each other over how completely schrecklich the music was, and laughing as a pair of idiots drooled over two girls grinding together. It was rather odd, actually: at Wellesley, two girls dancing together are probably dating, and they would get seriously annoyed at the idea that men thought it was appropriate to stare and cat call. These girls were obviously straight and putting on a show- rather disappointing, actually.
Attempting to buy books yesterday did not work out so great- I get the feeling that while the bookstores here handle much of the traffic for textbooks, it's just a de facto relationship. I think that I will probably end up buying what books I do need for class from Amazon- they are slightly specialized but I can probably find someone reselling them for lower than buying new.
