I have read only the first novella with Penric and Desdemona and while they are Not Quite at the same level of codependency and romance as Eddie and his Other, there are very strong vibes of sharing a body and taking care of each other and building a relationship together. It's charming!

I have loved Bujold for years and I have many warm feelings about many of her works, and I think the Chalion books really highlight her strengths and the skills she has cultivated. If you want further recs, let me know!
