I only know this because I've lived long enough for auto correct to have finally carved a rut in my memory in the shape of this word. Other words I've learned in this way include "necessary" and "efficient." "Acquaintance" isn't there yet.

I was taught one a long time ago. Then I was autocorrected with the other in the recent past. Now I've learned that they're interchangeable, and they're both correct.

Yup! I'm mostly trying to figure out if people like one better than the other. I'm a fan of publically bc I like the word publical

I have always thought that the "ally" simply looks correct. The other looks skimpy, as though it was cut off before it achieved its meaning. I'm with you, tei.
