Have at thee!

-Doing more for-pay translation for the cute scholars I worked with for my internship.

-I bought myself an external harddrive, and then had a few moments of terror about how it didn't work before I realized that I just had to reformat it. I now have another 450 Gigs to fill, and the prospect makes me a happy girl. (And, yes, before you ask, I have been several times in danger of filling my old one up, and had to go through selective purges.)

-I have some sort of a low level cold- Minor sinus pain. However, I am not sure if it's a cold or just the start of allergies. I'm trying to be nice to myself anyway.

-My roomie has broken up (it seems) with her boyfriend on this floor. At least, they are more troubled than before, and I never walk in on them cuddling. (There's also the number of times she's sighed heavily and told me "Männer sind Scheiße, Katlin." The fact she still can't say my name right should not be so cute....). This means that when she comes home late (about 4 am last night), she comes directly to my place, showers and bangs about, and then goes over to sleep at a friend's room or in her own bed.

-Last weekend found me in Budapest with the rest of the Swelles crew. It was a great trip, actually. The program paid for everything, which meant actually getting to eat good versions of the local cuisine, and having a very nice hotel room. Budapest is not as aggressively pretty as Prague, but it's got a kernel of cute old stuff and post-Soviet chic about it that I rather like.

-Hungarian is *weird.* Really. It's completely unrelated to any other language except Finnish, which actually only has something like 10 words in common with it. Hungarian has had a huge Turkish influence, while Finnish got a big German make-over. *Nothing* looks even slightly like words in any of the language I know.

-I've dropped my Middle High German class. It was rather like having to teach myself another language *through* German instruction, and while it was really interesting, it was also clear that the people studying it had much more of a background in linguistic and Latin than me. Though this solidifies in me the resolve to learn Latin more completely.
